Journey of Faith: Writing Your Conversion Story

In (Acts 26:12-23) we have an account of how Paul shared his story of faith. Take time to read it as a biblical example. Then start writing your own. Aim for½ page in length to focus your thoughts. Begin by describing what your life was like before you became a Christian? Perhaps include a verse that describes an unbeliever prior to Christ. Then include the three concepts below as they apply to your own journey.

  • Insight - the truth about God, ourselves, the gospel, reality, etc. (Rom. 10:17; Psalm 19:7). How did you become aware of your need for Christ? How did you hear the gospel? Who shared the scriptures with you? How did it happen?
  • Turning - repentance away from from the old life and faith toward Christ and new life found in him (Mark 1;15; 1Thess. 1:9). Briefly communicate the essence of the gospel taking root in your life. Include the fact of your sin, the just penalty of your sin, Jesus payment for sin, the requirement to repent and trust Jesus personally, and how you invited Christ into your life.
  • Transformation - increasingly growing in loving God and others, displaying the fruits of the spirit (2Cor. 5:17; 1Cor. 6:9-11). Describe how Jesus changed your life. Perhaps relate back to the areas you struggled with before conversion.

After writing it out, review it and see if you included insight, turning, and transformation concepts. Revise and make sure you are at about ½ page typed out. Check to see if it would be a clear gospel testimony in front of unbelievers. Make sure it gives glory to God in salvation.
